So, if you haven’t been watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, this post isn’t going to make much sense to you. But you can fix that by simply devoting the time to watching all (so far) 43 videos. I better give you some context: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a modern adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, told primarily through the medium of YouTube vlogs (video blogs), as well as though an extensive deluge of various other social media posts, predominantly Tumblr. The other social media is used to explore the story from the point of view of many other characters, some of which are minor in the original narrative.

A sort of running gag has formed in the vlogs where Lydia, Lizzie’s younger sister (played excellently by Mary Kate Wiles), will declare any action by her sister which she believes to be wrong or any bad characteristics of her sister as another “reason as to why Lizzie Bennet is perpetually single” along with a number for where it appears on the list. I have collated below all the so far mentioned “reason as to why Lizzie Bennet is perpetually single,” each with a link to the video from which they came.

UPDATE: According to a Q&A video by Lydia, the list is like Schrödinger’s cat, in that it both does and doesn’t exist. In the case that it does exist, it is very long. You can see the clip here:  Answers from The Lydia Bennet

UPDATE: IT’S OVER!!! The series is finished!!  😥 Lydia presented Lizzie with a list of “20 Reasons Why Lizzie Bennet Is No Longer Perpetually Single”. She even gives us a sample, with No. 15 on the new list be Lizzie is “too cool to not get any guy [she] want[s]”. She also says that the other list, i.e. the one below, is gone because it “doesn’t really apply anymore”. – The End – Ep: 100
